Our finances
Community Resolve started out in 2003 with a grant of £4000. It took a year of volunteer working to set up, but three years later the organisation now employs 2 full-time and seven part-time staff, as well as additional sessional workers. In that time, we have trained and worked with hundreds of adults and held workshops attended by over 3000 secondary school pupils, among other activities.
Community Resolve is currently financed through grants (see below) and earned income from training, facilitation and working on specific community conflicts. All our training and other services are charged on a sliding scale, depending on ability to pay. Our approach is clearly working, but it takes time and money to recruit and train a team of local practitioners. A number of our projects (see 1+1=11) are currently suspended for lack of funds - if you'd like to support us, we'd love to hear from you.
Our goal is to be 40% self financing within 5 years - but as a social enterprise working with people and groups with no or very little money, core funding will be essential to ensuring a stable organisation working to professional standards.
We believe that conflict resolution projects such as this one underpin service delivery by local councils and mainstream agencies across education, health, social services, housing and community development. Realistic levels of funding should be available to ensure services such as ours can support both workers and local groups and individuals to live peacefully side by side.
