Case studies

The group has come up with four case studies of conflicts that they consider typical:

• An elderly woman being mistreated by her son and daughter-in-law
• Tension between Mosque elders and younger community members over use of the Mosque for meetings
• Neighbourhood dispute, with an Asian family isolated on a street of white families
• Internal family disputes over an arranged marriage involving domestic violence

We think these could be used in training with community mediators and in other settings to explore barriers to people engaging with outside agencies.
