'We want to make a change ... ' - the volunteers

Friends Tremayne Beckford (right with cap), Tete Ashbourne (to Trem's left) and Bill Finch (back, on left) first got involved with Community Resolve as volunteers, but now all work with the organisation in various ways. They are seen here with fellow street-based team workers.

In December 2008, all three took part in Quarrel Shop, a seven-week programme run by Leap Confronting Conflict and our own Amanda Radix, a qualified Leap trainer. This required participants to give up their Friday evenings and Saturdays. Quarrel Shop lets young people explore their own relationship to conflict, makes them more self aware and shows them strategies for dealing with conflict in all aspects of life - at home, at school and on the street. Our Quarrel Shop programme was coupled with volunteer opportunities with us in schools across Bristol, mainly on workshops on gangs and knife crime.

Over the last year, all three young men have become increasingly involved in Community Resolve, working with the street-based team, as Crucial Conversations mediators, and as sessional peer trainers in schools and youth clubs.
